The primary function for picture frames is to serve as a border encompassing a pictorial image. Next, they should relate that image to its immediate surroundings. And last, they must protect and set apart an item of spiritual value. As the highly refined jewelry that decorated early altarpieces suggested the glories of heaven, and the elaborate altarpieces developed in 14th- and 15th-century Italy represented a Medieval cathedral in a cross-section. These heavenly settings were the very beginning of picture frames...

James Yarosh’s extensive research at the world’s greatest museums has resulted in a frame collection showcasing the finest in craftsmanship. His expert eye, honed by seeking out the master carvers of historical frames, has helped him cultivate a collection of frames that stand in harmonious complement to the art they house.

Forged out of relationships and years of working with frame artisans, including the Bavaro-Campagnale family, to develop successful translations of 21st-century aesthetics and ideas, these frames implement all the successful and classic references that have defined beauty over the centuries. Transcending trends to re-create, the frames are based on a cultivated knowledge of the history of ornaments, gilding, patina developments, and craftsmanship, referencing styles developed over the course of periods and with skilled designers and artists, over various countries, and even giving a nod to the most obscure and subtle differences endemic to individual villages in European frame design ancestry.

Each frame bearing the seal of being from the "James Yarosh Collection" becomes a link in a long chain of frame history that defines our culture.
