Artist Evelyn Leavens achieved literary as well as artistic success with her 1957 Boswell's life of Boswell, an illustrated volume quoting canine advice and observations apropos to humans.  The bestseller reached the second spot on the New York Times list.  Evelyn is seen with Boswell at upper left, while at right is an illustration from the book with Boswell observing, " I contemplate nature with cool, scientific detachment."  At lower left, Evelyn is seen in a recent photograph by Valentine in front of a large, brooding, self-portrait, reflecting the powerful strokes of the realistic period of this multimedia, diversely styled artist.
